What Is Minimum Order Quantity Wholesale? The 2026 UK Buyer’s Guide

Understand minimum order value, individual pieces and wholesale packs, with a practical quantity-and-cost worksheet for boutique buyers.

A supplier’s “no minimum order” message does not tell you everything about how a garment is sold. Before you choose stock for your boutique, separate two questions: is there a minimum value for the whole order, and what quantity does each product require?

Under Catwalk Wholesale’s current terms, there is no site-wide minimum order value. Some products are sold as individual pieces; others are sold in the pack or size ratio shown on their product page. Check the item you are buying rather than assuming every style follows the same format.

Minimum spend, minimum quantity and packs: the difference

Minimum order value is the amount a supplier requires you to spend across an order. It is a basket-level rule.

Minimum order quantity is the smallest quantity the supplier allows for an item or order. Suppliers may use the term differently, so check what the number actually applies to: a style, colour, size, pack or whole order.

Pack contents describe what you receive when you buy a pack. A pack may specify a quantity and size ratio. Do not assume that “one pack” means one garment, that every pack contains different sizes, or that a size ratio can be changed.

For Catwalk products, the product page is the place to check whether you are ordering an individual piece or a pack and what that pack contains.

Check these details before adding stock to your basket

Use this checklist for each shortlisted style:

  • Product and colour: are you looking at the exact option you intend to buy?
  • Selling unit: is the item sold by the piece or by the pack?
  • Quantity: how many garments will your chosen order quantity provide?
  • Sizes and measurements: what sizes or measurements are stated, and do they suit your customers?
  • Price basis: does the displayed amount refer to a unit or a pack, and how is VAT shown?
  • Product information: are composition, fit and care details clear enough for you to make a buying decision?
  • Outstanding questions: if a quantity, size ratio or price is unclear, ask before ordering rather than filling the gap with an assumption.

Save the product URL alongside your notes. This makes it easier to return to the exact style and compare it with your planned assortment.

Look at the whole outlay, not just the unit price

A low unit price is only one part of the decision. Record the cost of the quantity you plan to order, any applicable VAT and the delivery charge shown for your order. Keep the cash you must pay separate from the retail revenue you hope to earn.

Catwalk’s terms say prices are shown as stated on product and checkout pages and VAT is charged where applicable. Use the current basket and checkout information when confirming the amount payable.

For your own resale planning, also allow for the costs relevant to your business, such as payment or marketplace fees, packaging, fulfilment and potential markdowns. A markup on the buying price is not the same as net profit.

Decision: proceed, ask or hold

You do not need to fill every gap with a guess. If information important to your buying decision is missing, put the item on hold and ask for clarification.

Choose quantities around your own customers

Start with what you know about your customers’ sizes, price points and buying occasions. Decide how much you are comfortable committing to an untested style, then check that the product’s selling unit works within that amount.

A smaller order can limit the cash tied up in one decision, but it does not guarantee that the style will sell. Nor should you assume that the same item will remain available to reorder. Catwalk’s terms explain that availability and product details can change before an order is accepted.

For a seasonal assortment, compare the intended roles of your tops, knitwear, dresses and outerwear rather than buying several pieces that all do the same job. Use your own sales history where you have it, and record what you want to learn from any new style.

Check delivery and returns before paying

Read the current Shipping Information and Returns and Refunds Policy before ordering. Delivery estimates are not guarantees, and returns are subject to the policy’s conditions and instructions.

A return should not be treated as a substitute for checking product information. The returns policy asks buyers to contact Catwalk before sending goods back; eligibility and exclusions apply.

Frequently asked questions

Does no minimum order mean I can buy one garment?

It depends on the product. Catwalk has no site-wide minimum order value, but the product may be sold individually or in the pack shown on its page.

Are all wholesale packs the same size?

Do not assume so. Check the quantity and any size ratio on the particular product page. If the information is unclear, ask before ordering.

Can I choose different sizes within a pack?

Do not assume a stated pack can be split or changed. Check the options available for that item and ask if you need clarification.
